It was great to have the opportunity to speak about fear directly and not just as an outside observer. Thanks Teri for your help and insights

I have had THE BEST TIME over the past year or so...because I was ignoring Fear. He came anyway, eventually. To paraphrase Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction, "I won't be IGNORED, Jolene." (Fear calls me by my whole name.) Now I'm making friends with him because he stopped me right before I plummeted over the edge of this money cliff. I lost a lot, but not everything.

And you can always rebuild everything you lost. And it rebuilds better. When you break a bone, it remodels itself stronger than it was before. Same goes for any time you face fear with love.

Wow, Teri, what a gut-wrenching experience. It's heartbreaking to have your passion and livelihood questioned in such a personal way. Your resilience in navigating bankruptcy, grief, and betrayal is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story; it's a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, we can find the strength to pivot and rebuild.

Hindsight is 20/20. In looking back at this experience 20 years later, I learned 20zillion lessons I wouldn’t trade. I’d do it all again.

I totally get that. And I agree. I’ve been looking back a lot recently and while, I could have done things differently, and I could have avoided a lot of pain, I am who I am now because of all of that. And I’m finding so much fulfillment and happiness. ❤️

Thank you so so much for sharing this!

The weird thing I realised though? Until you hit the deep end with Fear, you don't realise the beauty of it too somehow lol. And then you find your own balance with it!

At least that's what happened to me haha!

It was a beautiful reminder of my journey and the fears I've faced! Thank you!

It's nice to know you! someone else who has made friends with Fear! And I think you are right, until you hit the deep end, you don't realize the beauty of it. In the midst of it, everything is just so scary. But scary is good! especially when you find balance.

It’s never easy to break dance with Fear. I had a few scuffles along the way. But when you kit the head spin just right, it’s pretty awesome!

What a story—thank you for sharing it so honestly. Your journey with Fear hit home. I love how you flipped the script, learning to dance with it instead of running away. That bit about needing Fear to keep us from doing stupid things? Spot on.

Your ability to pivot after so much loss is inspiring. It’s a reminder that success isn’t about avoiding failure—it’s about taking one step at a time, even when everything feels shaky.

Thanks again for the realness. That “make friends with Fear” lesson? I’m keeping that one close.

Wow, Clifford...thank you for this heartfelt comment. My yoga studio closed 20 years ago. Hard to believe it has been that long. I think my ability to PIVOT was about being open to seeing other possibilities and opportunities. and yes, putting one foot in front of the other and taking things one step at a time. There have been many pivots in my business since then. Substack being the most recent one. Life as an entrepreneur is never dull. It is a dance with Fear and walking that line between fear keeping us safe from doing stupid things, and not holding us back from adventures.
