Living for this!!

PS how people treat service staff is a great litmus test for the kind of person they are.

as soon as I saw that, which was right before her lecture, I stopped caring about anything she had to say.

Very good!

I had a date with a guy two years ago…it was rather boring…me providing all the juice and him taking it in…at the end of the meal he called out lovely waitress a bitch when she walked away. Last I ever saw of him. I pay a lot of attention to how people treat others.

And this essay is utterly brilliant. I have so many books chakras and most of them are composed like a piece of research, adding in all the information to appear brilliant. And brilliant they might be, but incredibly lacking in embodied application which is what chakras are anyways. Life force embodied.

Can you provide more info about the course? Time? Venue? Content? Do I need to become a paid subscriber to participate?

Truly, love this!

Thank you Lila. I appreciate you. I did see that you applied to The Creator Retreat, so you must have found the more information you were seeking. I”ll reply to you directly there.

I am no longer ashamed to say I have never read a chakra book cover to cover. They probably are brilliant, in their own ways. But not the kind of brilliant that I needed…so I made my own form of brilliant. I’m glad it touched you too.

And animals right? I always remember my friend telling me of an ashram she lived in where she really looked up to the teacher there…until she saw him kick a dog. 😩

Oh! So that's what they are! I get it now!

My eyes have always crossed before when people explain them and I've drifted off.

Thank you!

And, I agree with the person below: how people treat those they do not have to be kind to tells a lot about them.

HOLY HELL!!! This was the most helpful chakra explanation I've ever heard!!! 🤯 Thank you! I haaaaate technical jargon 🤮 and LOVE that you stood up and applauded the person that mumbled what chakras are, in their simplest form. p.s. I looooove that you found inspiration from Shame Sandwich!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗

when energetics and woo-teachers get all jargony and woo-language, I always roll my eyes inside my head. It sounds so “I know more than you” and it pisses me off.

This is a welcome jab at the complexity trap we all fall into Teri. Thank you for your pointed words and phrasing! I found myself reflecting after reading…how would I explain a Chakra System or Nervous system to my inner 1st grader that just wants to get back to creating with crayons? “Batteries placed throughout your body, that help you feel good”. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about the supportive potential of my body. I’m off to reflect on where else I’ve fallen into the complexity trap again…thanks for the opportunity to stop and reflect this morning 8-)

I love that idea of batteries places throughout your body. Especially cuz batteries all have their positive and negative sides…and not good or bad…just opposing energies to balance.

I kept coming back to that metaphor yesterday…same warm fuzzy feeling produced…I’m sticking with it. Thx again for bringing the woo woo down to my level 8-) ❤️

Heidi! I love that you say this BECAUSE you consider yourself woo. If I can convert the woo-woo to see this way, I've done my job right! Please share this concept generously with your woo-woo friends.

Great description! I was seeing a lady in ICU the other day and she said she couldn’t swallow her food. It stuck in her throat.

I listened to her for a while and eased into talking about stress in her life. It was very clearly her throat chakra / emotions causing most of her symptoms.

I was surprised when I said to the ICU Registrar - “It’s her throat chakra / emotions” that he actually listened and referred her to the psych / counsellor (at the patients request).

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to hear that the docs are listening to this kind of “medicine” now! In my experience, every time I requested something of a doc for my energetic beliefs, he’d poo-poo me and say that was hogwash. I vividly remember a doc saying that to me once. “Hogwash” I never went back.

Love the lamp analogy! It's like chakras are the mood lighting of our souls. And just like with mood lighting, sometimes you need a bright spotlight, and sometimes you just want to chill in the soft glow. Brilliant!

This is spot on! It's really not possible for us normal human beings to understand "ancient wisdom" and grasp high-level concepts so easily. While I have read so many books and articles on Chakras, this explanation beats all of it. This whole article is so precious!

Oh wow. This is a huge compliment and testimonial. From a woman of Indian descent to say that my little description of the chakras is the best she has ever read is AMAZING! I’m saving this and reposting it as a note! Thank you Sonaakshi!!!

Sonaakshi's avatar

I do mean it! Tbh, people in India can be just as oblivious to the true meaning of Chakras as the rest of the world. All this talk about 7 major chakras and them being blocked and open is not the whole truth. The way you explained it in terms of nerves in our body and energy centers does take away the woo-woo from it and makes people see this topic as something more approachable. So Thank you for writing this!

I’ve been teaching this lamp analogy for 15 years. And everyone who has taken my chakra class tells me they’ve never heard it this way.

I figured it was time I bring it to substack. Now that I have a following who wants to hear it.
