Ha I’m just back indoors from a day trip into Glasgow and while I was there I bought 2 new bras! I last went bra shopping in 2022 and bought 2 then, 1 of which fell apart last weekend. I’ve also lost 12lb since giving up drinking in August so did need new ones. I’ve always had a troubled relationship with them too. But before my 2022 shopping trip I did some research into the comfiest bras you can find and discovered a brand called Fantasie. It’s been a whole new experience.

2 bras lasted 3 years! that must be a record!!!

I've done so much research, and I've just determined I am too sensitive for bras. I buy one that is comfy when I put it on, and the way my body changes over the course of a day makes it uncomfortable at some points and comfortable at other points. I swear, I must bloat and shrink several times through the day...or my boobs change sizes throughout the day!

They’re really well made. Which means expensive. But they had sales on today so they were 20% off. And as they last so long it works out as not much compared to the cheap ones I used to buy that were ill fitting and needed replacing all the time. But I agree that no bra is 100% comfortable at all times. But I’ve got big boobs and I like the support so I’ll put up with the occasional discomfort!

Oh, TeriLeigh, I feel your frustration! I don't remember bra shopping to be an issue until after i had children and my already small boobs became even less defined. Then, for a decade or so I happily grabbed "young girl" bras from the girl section of Walmart for $10. No need to try on until they didn't carry that particular bra anymore. Sigh.

Thankfully, hyper-sensitivity wasn't a problem, just sizing and simple comfort.

One time, I thought I'd try Victoria Secret, too, because surely a bra shop would carry my size. Nope, no 36 barely A in any variety. And no, i didn't want a push-up bra. Push up what, exactly?!

Enter internet shopping! This has made it blessedly easy to find bras that work for me. (So thankful for free returns if they don't work!) Just enough padding and structure to give me some shape without exaggeration or discomfort! And finally, I get to enjoy some pretty lace rather than just plain cotton.

How I wished I could go to the “young girls” section to get something that fit my tiny band size, but they never had any that worked for my bigger cup size in the girls’ sections.

Thanks for chiming in. I think bra challenges is a universal female problem.

As a teenager, I went to TJ Maxx with my mom. You know what the bra section there looks like?! Tangled, disorganized Mess. We were looking for bras for her, because you could get good ones for cheaper there. She found some and took them to try on. When she found one that checked all the boxes except probably this band or that cup sz, then i was to go try to find what might work better. It felt like hours that we were working to find one or two that would work for her. Did I mention that she was quite well-endowed? That's the day I decided I was perfectly happy with my small breasts!! 😅

Omg bra shopping is my own personal hell. Years ago I found a really good (German) brand and it was so easy from then on, just order same bra in same size every time. They aren't available in NZ but I bought them online and my mum sent them to me. Then the company got mayorly hacked and now they're working to get themselves back together and I'm left without good bras and it sucks 😞

yup, personal hell for sure.

I had a favorite brand of yoga pants, had the same sensory issues with yoga pants. I sold these in my yoga studio 20 years ago and had 20 pairs for myself, just rotated the colors. Then my studio closed and I couldn’t get them wholesale, and then the company that made them went out of business. They have literally been my summer uniform for 20 years. I have 7 pairs left!

Oh I feel this soooo much. The body that doesn’t fit into anything and the touch that feels like sandpaper…I usually go with bralettes from Cosabella.

Cosabella is the brand that came the closest to fitting me.

They’re all I wear. Their balconette bra also works some days/hours.

I feel this 🫂 I grew boobs in my early teens, seemingly big overnight. I hate most bras. They are uncomfortable, wear out, cannot hold the weight. But I do like the support of a good one, so when I find one, I buy a few and eventually they wear out and are discontinued. It's so frustrating. And the price! It's crazy.

I tried wearing corsets a few years ago, which worked nicely but sitting was odd! I didn't get used to them yet.

I like that you found a solution that makes you happy.

I tried corsets too. They helped a little with the back pain I get when my boobs feel especially heavy. I recently tried again, got caught up in a social media sponsored ad campaign of "best bras for small band large cups"...I bought one, and the band was too big, but it came with a band extended, that I sewed into the band to make it smaller. It worked! but not really. I was comfortable in it for about half a day, but then it felt like just too much. sometimes I wonder if I should've been born into an African tribe where women go topless and let their breasts sag to their bellies. I might be more comfortable that way.

Teehee, I think like all sensitives, we're just hyper aware of what is wrong in this world. Bras don't work for most. And we're the canaries that will voice it.

Yes! That's pretty much describes my experience of always having to fit into the world, and never the other way around.
