My daughter and her husband live in the Twin Cities area. Through my grandchildren’s school district they have an organized system to purchase and deliver food, personal care needs, diapers, and OTC meds. There is a group who are putting together learning materials, puzzles, games, and toys for children. I know of one church collecting gently used children’s clothing also. I do not want to reveal locations as I feel this information could get into the wrong hands. Here we have volunteer tutors going to homes to help children keep up with their school work. There are also volunteers to take children to and from school and deliver library books and help with other needs.

This is precisely why I say that the best way to donate from afar is to pick a school and donate there. Schools know how to organize and get needs met. And yes, don't reveal locations as everything here is secret (hush)...both for protection and for humility. It's almost like there's an endurance charm that comes with humility.
It getting increasingly more difficult to find specific examples of good news here. For every 15-20 videos and posts I scroll that have heinous scenes and stories, I might find a tiny glimmer of something kind. this is both because Minnesotans are extremely humble and don’t like to shine light on their good deeds, and because we are becoming increasingly more cautious of our efforts. It’s becoming more and more important that these efforts stay hush.
I heard a story yesterday of a woman leaving her church with a bag of groceries for donation deliveries. Ice was there and scanned her face. A day later, her TSA pre-check and Global Entry were revoked.
Also, I had my first death threat here on Substack a few days ago. I blocked and reported it. but seriously…I got a death threat for reporting on the good things that neighbors do for neighbors.
Teri, that is horrifying! We continue to be vigilant. We have heard a few reports in my area of NY, but nothing to the magnitude Minnesota is dealing with.
